Discover the transformative effects of sound therapy with this 1-hour gong bath experience.
During this session, participants will be surrounded by the resonant vibrations of gongs, carefully designed to induce deep states of relaxation and calm. As you settle into the experience, allow the soothing tones to wash over you, releasing tension and promoting a sense of inner peace.
Scientific studies have highlighted the benefits of sound therapy, particularly gong baths, in reducing stress and promoting overall well-being. The rhythmic patterns and overtones of the gongs can help entrain brainwaves, leading to a meditative state and improved mental clarity.
Beyond the immediate effects, many participants report experiencing lasting benefits such as improved sleep, reduced anxiety, and enhanced mood following a gong bath session. By immersing yourself in the healing vibrations of the gongs, you can tap into a deeper sense of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Whether you're looking to unwind after a long day or explore new avenues of self-care, this 1-hour gong bath offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with yourself and find balance amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. DIRT Group | Monthly Community Resilience Project | #8. First Aid, Physical and Mental
Most people see getting first aid for physical injuries as obvious in an emergency situation, but accessing mental first aid can be equally important for some. We’ll be looking at what resources we can have ready for ourselves, in our group and in our community to provide physical and mental first aid, in the aftermath of a disaster event and through the ongoing process of rebuilding and recovery. This will feed into our future event where we look at what resources we have around us that can be used or re-purposed in an emergency and what we should get and build up. Come and learn in a relaxed and fun way to help make yourself and our community better prepared to handle disruptive events.

Dance with Dementia
In 2020, the world began to experience Covid-19.
In the same year, my mother was diagnosed with depression and subsequently with dementia.
In the end of December 2021, based on my observations of both my own condition and my mother's illness, I created "Dance with Dementia"
At the end of February 2024, my mother passed away due to kidney failure, returning to heaven. In June 2024, I attended the 12th Atlanta Fringe Festival with my team, carrying a heart of mourning. We performed four shows at the Metropolitan Theatre and ultimately received the Critics' Choice 2024 award.
I hope to continue sharing the creation of "Dance with Dementia" with different friends and to further develop the work. As the world faces the phenomenon of an aging population, we or our loved ones may be at risk of developing dementia. I hope more people can more concerts to this illness and the needs of caregivers.

Theatre for Climate – Don't Look Now
Theatre for Climate is a new Wellington theatre group performing entertaining, thought-provoking plays about climate change issues. We are excited to present our debut production of Don't Look Now, a collection of short plays for a changing climate by award-winning playwright Angie Farrow, directed by David O'Donnell.
Don’t Look Now is a collection of short plays for a changing climate, following multiple perspectives you’d be able to see within your own community. From a concerned parent on their radical ‘greenwashed’ daughter to an old woman who climbed up a tree as it faces an arborist, Don’t Look Now is set to be an evening of spectacular performance shortly followed by refreshments and a kōrero on how you can make an impactful difference to the climate crisis within our communities.
“These are short plays but they say so much about our human responses to the environmental crisis – our mixed emotions, our protests, actions, inactions, fears, frustrations, complacency, doubts” says director David O’Donnell. “Angie’s writing is funny and true, full of colourful characters, with a playful sense of the absurd. Her work is highly entertaining while also making us think” … “We see the potential of theatre to start discussions, to open up new possibilities, to imagine solutions and a better future together.”
You can see Don't Look Now on 28th Feb Vogelmorn Bowling Club from 7-9pm, with additional performances on 26th Feb Newtown Community Centre, 6th March at Strathmore Park Community Centre, and 5 April at Ngaio Union Church.
Koha Entry, bookings advised.
